Climate change creates ever greater extremes in our weather pattern: prolonged droughts, rising temperatures and torrential rain showers are no longer an exception. These monster rain showers are increasingly often the reason for nuisance and billions of dollars in damage: the water doesn’t get drained, traffic gets interrupted and the infrastructure gets damaged. In order to find solutions to these problems, the third edition of the Amsterdam International Water Week (AIWW) is being organized. On November 1 Oneworld and Amsterdam Rainproof arouse the Dutch metropole with the Rainproof Rave and Ride.
As an introduction to the International Water Week the Dam – the stony heart of Amsterdam – is temporarily turned into a green oasis by the Rainproof Rave & Ride. On November 1 a parade of green pimped bicycles rides through the city to the pop-up park with 4 meter tall trees. There everyone is welcome to enjoy the beats of rainproof music while participating in sustainable workshops, admiring hip rain fashion and gadgets or just enjoying a raindrop-drink. Some of the workshops:
- Vertical Bottle Gardening
- Wonky Rain Pipe Art
- Greening Your Home
- Rain Flush
- Climate Talk
